Información sobre pastos
The ultimate pig pen, three of our mini pigs call this pasture home. A pig’s eyesight is blurry compared to humans, giving them more of a near-sighted view so please gently drop food over the fence for them to graze.
Pigs are highly intelligent, social, and clean mammals that share remarkable cognitive and physical traits with humans. They rank among the smartest animals on Earth, with cognitive abilities comparable to a 3-year-old human child and problem-solving skills that can outpace dogs.
A pig’s sense of smell is up to 2,000 times more sensitive than a human's, helping them forage for underground delicacies like truffles. Their snouts are filled with acute scent receptors which make them ideal for rooting and exploring their environment. They can pick up scent trails and identify odors from as far away as 5 to 7 miles.
Pigs lack functional sweat glands, which is why they wallow in cool mud to regulate their body temperature.
Meet the Animals

Milly
Lovely Milly is a Kunekune pig, originally from New Zealand and known for their rotund build, grazing habits, and friendly, dog-like temperament. Yep, check, check and check—sounds like Milly.

Olivia
A Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, Olivia is full of spunk. She was left on our doorstep with her siblings and we found homes for the others but Olivia decided to stay and has enjoyed being with her friends Milly and Oscar ever since.

Oscar
As our senior pig, Oscar is also a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. So that he can have the space and quiet he needs during his senior years, he has a separate stall where he can bathe in the sunlight or rest in his hay bed whenever he pleases without any other pigs to bother him. Talk about retirement living, he hit the jackpot!
Around the Pasture
The sanctuary would not be possible without the generous people and businesses who support our animals and their care.
