Hamilton doesn’t venture out of his shed as much anymore but when he does, he’s quite a sight. As with our other pigs, his eyesight is not great so please keep fingers outside the fence to avoid accidentally getting nipped.

Hamilton’s strength continues to amaze us all. When he wants to go for a walk around the sanctuary, he just pushes right through his gate and walks around like he owns the place. On a recent walkabout, his favorite landing spot was the compost pile. That was both stinky and adorable at the same time.

If you are lucky enough to get a glimpse of this big guy, we think you will agree that he is indeed a really big pig!

Meet the Animals

Hamilton at Sammamish Animal Sanctuary
Hamilton

This Landrace pig is 800 pounds of love. He is the true definition of a gentle giant. Originally rescued from a slaughterhouse, Hamilton came to us when his sanctuary in Malibu had to close and he needed a new home. Over 1,000 miles later, he was at our sanctuary making new friends and discovering the many variations of rain in the Northwest. He soon realized his surfing days were over.

If you are lucky enough to get a glimpse of this big guy, we think you will agree that he is indeed a really big pig!

Around the Pasture

The sanctuary would not be possible without the generous people and businesses who support our animals and their care.
